Our Nordic Style girl's pattern contains two styles. Adaptations can easily be made to combine features from View A with View B and visa versa.

View A Jumper is all one fabric and View B is shown with contrasting fabrics. When using stripes or plaids for the bodice, cut on the bias to achieve a chevron effect. View A has a laced bodice and deeply rounded neckline. Lacings of thin cotton cording or narrow grosgrain ribbon are threaded through pewter eyelets or small worked buttonholes.

View B bodice has the typical Gudbrandsdalen neckline and is fastened with hooks, either concealed or decorative pewter. Both bodices are snugly fit with the waistline seam falling 1 1/4" above the natural waistline. The skirt is full and softly pleated with two tucks just above the hem, one to enclose the hem edge and the other to allow for growth.

View A Apron is gathered at the waist with mock ruching done by machine. The waistband can be of self-fabric or of colorful woven braid.

View B Apron is pleated and you have the option of using bordered eyelet embroidery or a standard hem. The front and back of the loose-fitting Blouse gather into a stand-up collar with a neckline slit in the front seam. Full sleeves have small pleats at the dropped shoulder and are gathered into buttoned cuffs. Collar and cuffs are edged with lace. Difficult gussets in the traditional Nordic blouse have been eliminated by the cut of the sleeve and shoulder.

Included are instructions for sewing a separate Waist-bag which is tied around the waist with woven braid or contrasting grosgrain ribbon. Designs and directions for applique decorations are provided, but other techniques such as floral embroidery or counted cross-stitch may also be used depending on the Nordic area you wish to represent.
