This Frontier Fur Hat is designed from pictures drawn by Bodmer during his visit to the Fur Trade in the early 1800s. Hats of this kind were worn by Indians and Mountain Men both for protection from the elements and as symbols of status, coups and/or "clans."

The pattern comes with complete instructions for making the Fur Hat with just hte body of the pelt, or, as shown on the front cover, with an option for using the face of the animal.

The Frontier Fur Hat Pattern is easy to use and has a complete glossary of terms used. There is also an extensive section on "Working with Leather and Fur" so that anyone from the novice to the experienced seamstress will be comfortable using this pattern.

Intermediate sizes may be easily made and all of the instructions are illustrated.
